I kinda had my hopes up at first, but now I'm glad it's been cancelled because I don't like the LOS trilogy so therefore the movie would have sucked.

Aside from the "Promising" part about the movie, I agree. It's sad that such a cute little guy from the 90's turned out like this. Spyro's on his last leg here, if something doesn't give with this "new direction", then all is lost.
I'm also slightly weary of that. Hasn't Spyro been changed enough for one franchise? How many others can you think of that have changed universes 3 times (Granted that new direction means no more tLoS)?

Spyro has only been changed once. The first three games and then all the non-LoS games were of the same universe and style (but Shadow Legacy is all on its own I think). Spyro was just sold to different companies. However, I think the LoS universe shows much more promise than the original one (could elaborate, but don't feel like it).

Ok tell me this the producers are making a Garfield cartoon movie and which well probably suck. And they are making a Crash Banicoot movie( saw the trailer on Youtube) which would suck even more and the game industry said they wouldn't make spyro instead they are making CB.

Yeah, I wasn't too surprised. I guess the world just isn't ready for a Spyro movie yet.

I have a feeling this is because Activision is going through all of the crazy legal nonsense with Infinity Ward that they don't have the time or money to continue to invest in a movie about a character that, quite frankly, not a lot of people remember. (Or at least, not enough people to draw a crazy revenue from alone).

People who grew up with Spyro when they were children loved Spyro, I loved him anyway, that game used to make me so happy, these later games are a bit depressing and Spyro isn't what he used to be, back in 1998, he used to be a lovable cute little dragon and now.....never mind, is all I can say.

The Darkest Hour was the original title for Dawn of the Dragon, cynders. Do your research and don't just blurt out any original titles of previous Spyro games and fan-made titles you think it's official.

And the reason the movie is cancelled was Activision taking the Spyro series in a different direction.

Also, the Legend of Spyro is a TRILOGY. Dawn of the Dragon is the LAST game of the trilogy, after A New Beginning and The Eternal Night, and the next game won't be named The Legend of Spyro since it's name of the trilogy.

Judging from the number of units sold and the general quality of the games and fandom, the games when't downhill already, IMO.

I didn't really know what to think about the movie. I was kind of surprised they would make a movie about Spyro. I'm really happy, however, that they're making more Spyro games. I hope they reveal something about them at E3 this year.

I think that they should have made the movie, it may not have been that bad. New story would have been cool for the newbies but odd for the people who grew up with the games like most people have.

To answer questions...

There will be more games, the games will not be TLoS(but may be in that theme or setting) because it was a trilogy, and the movie WAS cancelled.

I hope that the future Spyro games will have nothing to do with TLOS, those games do my head in.

If they are set in the LoS universe, then it won't be the end of the world. Although I imagine old Spyro fans overreacting if the next Spyro game is set in the LoS universe.

I never said it would be. I'm just tired of the seriousness and doom and gloom of LOS. Then again as long as it's fun and at least light-ER than LOS I'll be happy.

well it is a spyro fansite but yes it is gettin out hand i'm a bit bummed aswell im not disagreeing or agreeing i'm justpointing something out

I am a fan of both the old and new Spyro's. I really liked the new ones, the graphics and music, kinda like a lord of the rings spyro. My two daughters 8 and 9, also love both the old and new spyro's and they were thrilled that they could both play in the last game. All i want is a new spyro game, i keep checking and cheking all over the net but no news yet. if you know when a new one comes out please keep me informed..

I doubt it but it would be cool because at the end of DOTD in the credits it says thanks for supporting our favorite purple dragon we would have not made it through without your continued encouragement this is me quoting the credits after that there has be no trailers for games of spyro or really anything besides the 72 hour marathon for sickkids

I did like teh LoS but I was far more interested in teh originals.

In the context of movie EA should own rights to Spyro.They are often releasing films about new franchise games (for example Dante's Inferno:an Animated Epic, Dead Space: Downfall and Aftermath).

EA often makes good films of their games. I loved Dead Space: Downfall.

I think that they should have made a movie of the first game. But that's my opinion.

There was a Gameinformer interview between a staff of GI and the producers of the LoS trilogy. They confirmed that they only scratched the surface with the LoS trilogy, which was created to recreate Spyro's world. Stupid gameinformer website deleted the interview though...

Pretty much what i have to say in this matter, is that i'm glad the cancelled the movie, cause that means they can make, better and more greater games, then after Spyro games get better and all, they can make a movie, the better the games are, even better the movie will be.

I am actually Glad it was cancelled. For me, tLoS was not a good Series, and we did not need a Reboot. The original 3 were brilliant and Seirra just ruined Spyro. DotD was awful, and for me these are tLoS ratings:
ANB = 1/10
TEN = 0.8/10
DotD = 0.1/10
So I am very glad it was cancelled

It wouldn't matter anyways, because Activision will make the decision whether to go back to the Old Spyro that was dying since Insomniac left, or continue in the universe of the LoS.

Yes, I know that. I was simpily stating my opinion on the series itself...
Anyway, it's cancelled, so there's no point really in mourning it now. It happens, un/fortunatly things are cancelled. Often Good, often Bad. We can't stop it, people have to face up to that. Anyway, Spyro started as a game, so why turn into a movie Franchise? It would not be much fun. Plus, we've already seen tLoS, so we know what happens. We'd just be like "I know the ending, Spyro Saves Cynder because she turns good..." It would be a boring repeat, wheras new games would prove more fun and exciting.
Plus, judging by how the movie sounds, it would've been a letdown for tLoS fans. Plus, Sparx would hardly have a role, and it's rather difficult to make a film of of a game exactly by Detail, as seeing Spyro running around for about half an hour would be pretty Boring. This whole idea of Cynder wearing a Necklace bonding her to the Dark Masters whims is just a bit of a cheesy rip-off from the Necklaces from DotD.
Plus, most Fans are fans of the Originals. They've turned Spyro from something enchanting to a load of rubbish for me.
Of Course, this is entirely my Opinion.

Omg no! I waited a few years for that. Very dissapointing. The games rocked, my favorite being Riptos Rage. But i honestly dont see how they could make a movie from games, unless it was mostly about the little cut-scenes. And i know cynder would be badass. Oh well...

I can see why you're dissapointed. The movie may have been good, to tLoS fans, at this time I'd like topoint out I oppose the LoS series. Ripto's Rage/Gateway to Glimmer was quite a good game, lots of fun. I personally loved the very first Spyro game, and a movie of the first three Insomniac games would be very good since so many people loved them. However, theres the negative response of you'd know what would happen.

So you see, I'm not critisizing the film because I hate tLoS, I'm critisising it because it'd be a boring repeat of the games with some extras... even films of the first 3 would probably suck...

I think I may point out, also, not everybody likes tLoS. While it seems like I may be trying to enforce my Opinion, I'm not. I'm stating fact, as you see any Spyro fan liked the Original three games. They were fun and enchanting, the newer ones don't seem right.
The controls were messed with. Look, Charge is just weak unlike the Originals, and the enemies are... Apes. C'mon, evil Apes? And since when did Spyro have a limited use of breath? It's silly, and makes the game unfair when low on the green Gems. Bringing to Question, Gems aren't powerups. They're collectibles to keep the player occupied.
Then Health. Yes, you had a much better chance with this Health, but I miss the Sparx health Counter.
I realy do not want to seem rude or anything, but that's how I feel about tLoS. This is my opinion on the series itself, and the reason as to why I didn't like the Movie idea

tbh the TLOS series wasan't spyro at all, it's more about a legend of purple dragons etc.. not a dragon that was not special in anyway but still kicked ass, we loved spyro because of it's adventure and collectable aspects, not because we liked beating up countless amounts of enemy's just to get to the next part of a level... the whole TLOS series BORED me completly, the amount of enemys I had to fight that took a long time, not just one simple attack Spyro was never a fighting game, spyro never had moves similar to sonic, and spyro was never some bigged up super powered purple dragon, that's why I hated the reboot it just ruined everything, remakeing the first 3 games would be a better idea than carrying on that rubbish.
