I posted this in the forums just over a week ago but there's not been much other news lately so here it is now on the front page as we continue the wait for gamescom next week (August 5th-9th) and its potential for new information.
Combining a few European retailer listings I have managed to put together what looks to be the lineup of toys for the first few SuperChargers waves (aside from any retailer exclusive alt decos).
Wave One
Starters
Single Pack SuperChargers
Single Pack Vehicles
Racing Action Packs
Combo Packs
Wave Two
Single Pack SuperChargers
Single Pack Vehicles
Triple Pack
Wave Three
Single Pack SuperChargers
Single Pack Vehicles
Racing Action Packs
Combo Packs
Triple Pack
But what are these Triple Packs for? Can they save you money? Well... yes, it seems that they can do that (obviously only if you were planning on getting all of the included toys already). At the prices they were listed at you could buy the triple Terrafin+Shark Tank+Jet-Stream and a single Jet-Vac for less than if you bought them in the two Combo Packs (€30+€13 vs. €25+€25).
Dates attached to the listings imply that Waves 1 and 2 will be released at launch with Wave 3 following approximately two months later. As with the prices these are dates for the European markets so the situation may be slightly different in the US.
And if you don't already then make sure to check out the awesome mini KABOOM! Skycast, a dedicated weekly Skylanders podcast which is this week celebrating its 25th episode and announcing the winner of their E3 Hot Streak giveaway.

great news!
It was a very interesting interview and it made me realise how much hard work you put into the site. Good to know that you're a member of the swap force master race (although by the looks of things, SuperChargers looks like it could take the cake).
y is stealth stinger wave 2?
I'm gonna place my bets on Shield Striker being High Volt's Vehicle, and Thump Truck being Smash Hit's Vehicle.
Also: Trigger Happy and his vehicle, and Thrillipede and the Buzzwing (with single Stealth Elf, Hot Streak and Spitfire) pretty much confirmed for Wave 4, as they are the only ones missing from the list.

Curious how much the combo, triple and racing packs will cost in the US?
Isn't it better to have stealth stinger in a triple pack?
I'd like to know when I can start preordering. This is the latest I think they've been in that they haven't let us preorder any of the first wave after announcing the starter packs.

I don't think they ever have let us pre order characters (except Gearshift).

with Swap Force a day after the starter went up for preorder we also were able to preorder pop-thorn and Terrafin/Bumble Blast set it was a while before we could preorder the rest..
Trap team yes Gearshift was early to preorder but i think it only took 3 weeks before we could preorder the rest of wave 1.

How could Eruptor & the Burn-Cycle, Stealth Elf & the Stealth Stinger, and Nightfall & the Sea Shadow be in separate waves?

So couple things bugging me, were about a month away from the release and 3 traps haven't been released yet, and another thing for the nitendo console owners they have to buy the game 3 times to get all types of starters that's kind of sucks well really sucks why can't they make them also single figure especially since the game is also available for digital download
I would buy the starter characters used. That's how I got another Trigger Happy and Dark Blast Zone.
keep updating this, it is for sure interesting to see what get released in the waves..
Was the Legendary Sky Racing Action Pack released in Wave 2?

Huh, interestingly they did only fully reveal characters from the first wave. Before it was always a mix of the first three or even some from later ones, but they're really attempting to control every bit of info after all.
