Just in time for a last minute dash before Christmas, the release of the third wave of Skylanders: Giants toys is imminent in the United States. Unfortunately it doesn't actually appear to have any brand new characters unless you skipped the first Battle Pack.
What it does have is the LightCore version of Shroomboom, a single pack release of Series 2 Cynder, the regular Series 2 releases of Eruptor and Prism Break (they're not LightCore so they do have their Wow Pows this time), the regular Series 2 Stealth Elf and the debut of a Series 2 Lightning Rod.

And, according to advertisements, January 9th is when the Scorpion Striker Battle Pack with Hot Dog (and Series 2 Zap) is released. In the US it will be a one month exclusive for GameStop before becoming available at other retailers too.

Thank you Dark. I hope to get Lightcore ShroomBoom and the Scorpion Striker battle pack, mainly because of Hot Dog.

There should be a giant in wave three. Without the giant, it isn't a complete wave. So we will probably know for sure what the new giant is on release day, which has been confirmed as the 23rd.
^This, we can all tell that this is not all of the wave, there are still a lot of characters left which cant be sold in one single wave
Hmm... interesting. Although the regular releases seem a bit redundant. >.>
I believe this is a shelf stocker wave and we'll see 3 packs, at least one giant, and info on at least one of the remaining variants sometime early January. That's my guess tho. No giant on the 23. I would call the predicted mid jan wave, wave 3.5.
I am believing Thumpback to be the Wave 3 Giant. It is obvious, because he was the main character in an advert, he is more known about than Eye-Brawl and Ninjini and people are hyped up about him.
I got a TRU flier yesterday that said for Dec 23rd, "New! wave 3 is here! 8 to choose from". So I think there are two more in addition to the 6 shown above, probably one of them is a giant.

Huh... just realized that there aren't any Giants amongst this wave. That's a bit unusual, considering they're one of the key elements to this sequel. And not having them for the last minute holiday shaping seems like a missed opportunity. <.<
I checked the Gamestop (US) website after someone posted that the date was listed as the 9th, and they still had it listed as the 1st.

Interesting.... I had believed that a Giant might be included in the wave. Looks like TFB is just losing revenue
I picked up LC shroom boom at my local TRU on Thursday and they put out a portion of these guys today because they mistakenly advertised the 21st instead of 23rd, so I picked up stealth elf and eruptor, but lightning rod and prism break were sold out. 6am Sunday!
cynder comes in the staer pake so is not in wave 3 shes in wave 1.right?

dark52, do you know anything about whether a Giant will be in the Wave because there is a lot of talk about this on the Giants forums?
No offense to dark but as far as I'm aware he knows about as much as we do in the forums. It seems this wave is a shelf stocker and they will use the giants to try to keep interest longer. It won't effect tfb or acti revenue considering a large majority of players are going to just be starting their giants life on Tuesday.

so many negative comments about the way Toys R Us handled their 'last minute xmas shopping' advertisements on the Skylanders Facebook page -- people forget how great the game is and how hard it was finding figures last year but this year there are so many -- oh well hope everyone enjoyed whatever Skylanders they got from Santa!

I was just at GameStop and I asked them if I should consider pre-ordering the Scorpion Striker Battle Pack and he said no because since it's going to be a GameStop exclusive for a month, and that Skylanders is such a big hit, that they're going to be carrying loads and loads of them.
Have all but lc shroomboom and s2 prismbreak. pre ordered ss battle pack and have a lightning rod comming from TRUs website.
Who agrees that prism break and lightning rod look constipated?
