E3 2013 has brought with it many new character reveals, gameplay videos and interviews with an assortment of Activision and Vicarious Visions staff about the upcoming Skylanders SWAP Force.
To kick it off we've been introduced to several new characters, some brand new Swap Force type and some regular "core" Skylanders.
Hoot Loop, Free Ranger
Rattle Shake, LightCore Star Strike
Another brand new Swap Force type character, so far seen only in the newly updated version of the part swapping trailer, is a Fire Skylander called Fire Kraken. And for the core Skylanders you've got newcomers like Grim Creeper and, as shown off in various hands on play sessions, Fryno, a fiery rhino that has upgrades to get his very own motorbike (just like Hot Head).
We've also seen various returning Series 3 characters confirmed through brand new artwork like Spyro, Trigger Happy, Eruptor and Terrafin along with a few other brand new characters whose names have yet to be revealed.
On the gameplay and interview side of things you've got fairly extensive coverage from FamilyGamerTV showing off each of the new characters, like Fryno, as well as an interview with David Nathanielsz from Vicarious Visions the developers of Swap Force.
Coin-op TV too have a few videos and an interview of their own and The Skylander Kids have some up close videos on some more unnamed brand new Skylanders that were seen in toy form at the Skylanders' booth. GameSpot ran a live showing of the game and you can see the 25 minute recording of that to watch them show off of a wide variety of the characters and their combinations as they advance through a brand new level.
Today's Nintendo Direct had a few very brief seconds of video from the Nintendo 3DS version of Swap Force, it's at about the 17 minute mark but blink and you'll miss it.
And of course our very own Skylanders SWAP Force gallery has been updated with all the new screenshots and pieces of artwork that have been released.

Second comment! This looks pretty sweet! Will any more be revealed at E3, or is this it?
Grim Creeper looks like a Sackboy in a costume...
I love Star Strike's figure. It looks amazing, and so far out of the reveal my fav swappers are Stink Bomb,Magna Charge,Rattle Snake and Hoot Loop and my fav combos out of those 4 are:Magna Bomb,Stink Snake,Rattle Loop and Hoot Charge.
My new favorite is the unnamed steampunk arachnid swapper, hope we get some more data on him soon!
Hey guys - made a montage video showing the newly announced figures - enjoy!

I am sooooo HYPED UP! Great news, nice Skylanders.
I love that little Spyro picture in the title and also the 3 new characters look amazing!
I still can't picture myself buying another 56+ new characters..... I mean c'mon Activision.....really?
I already have over 100 skylanders to play with. Maybe I should just buy the game and forget the characters.

My solution: Sell figures that you really don't need. Like for me, I will keep 8 series 2, but sell the rest. I will also sell the Lightcores and Legendries to get me some more money for Swap-Force, and it clears my collection. I really want to get Swap-Force, I just don't want to spend all of my allowance on it.
The only problem with that is I like all the characters I have for the most part, and want to keep them for my collection. Unless I sell what I feel are useless characters like Drill Sergeant. I think it's dumb they got rid of 8 from SSA and in my opinion the ones they got rid of were some of the best characters in the game, especially Sunburn. Well Wham-Shell was no big loss, but others like Voodood and Camo and etc. were big losses in having reposed series 2 characters made. Just my opinion of course.

That's true. You're right. But on other hand, instead of repose them again, they're making Series 3 characters. That's bit annoying, since Spyro or Stealth Elf in nija version can be fun, we already had ton of Eruptors and why the heck they had to make another Trigger Happy?

I hope they don't reject Cynder. She is an awesome Undead Skylander. Perhaps she could return as Dark Cynder based on the one from "The Legend of Spyro".
Actually looks kinda cool.
Ohh, I can't wait! As long as they don't get rid of Spyro and Cynder. Even though I know they say they aren't, I do hope they make another Spyro game, not Skylander based. I don't really care if they make a new version of Spyro and don't continue The Legend of Spyro. I just really want to have another game that is still more focused on Spyro and Cynder. Of course, I'm not hating on Skylanders or any other Spyro games already made. I love them all.
loooooooooooooooooooks beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssssssssssttttttt
This ^
Well from what I have read we are getting another new 56 characters to collect including the 3 that come with the starter pack, the new game is not backwards compatible with the old portal meaning to switch between Giants and Swap Force you also have to swap portals as well. That sounds like a big headache along with another $800+ dollars that Activision will not see from me....sorry.
No, the new portal can work in the old games, it's just that the old portal will not work in Swap-Force.
I'm so excited for Swap Force!!! Too bad it comes out 3 days after my birthday.....
If you haven't already seen there are quite a few pre-order deals around the most noteworthy is Target's pre-order says something about additional in-game content.
I'm doing Toys R Us for the 3DS starter, and Target for the Wii U starter, and purchasing my figures at GameStop to follow their Loyalty Program. Smart plan I think.
Really great news! I enjoy the news of this topic!
