A special $100 edition of the Skylanders Swap Force Starter Pack has been announced, the Dark Edition Starter Pack will be exclusive to GameStop and feature five Dark versions of some Skylanders.
The main attraction is the five dark Skylanders: Dark Wash Buckler, Dark Blast Zone, Dark Ninja Stealth Elf, Dark Mega Ram Spyro, and Dark Slobber Tooth. And along with all the usual stickers and cards you'll get a special poster featuring all of the characters from all three games.
Lost Islands this week sees the introduction of the first two Sidekicks, Trigger Snappy and Whisper Elf. They behave just like the other Skylanders but they can tackle the new Chompy Pods when they're fresh, other Skylanders must wait for it to empty. The other six Sidekicks are likely to be rolled out slowly like they've been doing with the variants. Super Tuesday this week has a double gold bonus.

It's implying that you might, but that I don't really know for sure.
BTW, now it is showing up.

Probably won't be that expensive - depends who's got it. All the clues are pointing to GAME, and whilst they're currently the most expensive (at £65 for the PS3, 360 and Wii U versions and £53 for the Wii version) I could see them putting an extra £20 on the price, maybe £15 if we're lucky.
So either £80-85.
Edit: Also, why isn't this showing up on the homepage?
Response to edit: You tell us.
...What's that supposed to mean? Implying that I would know why the news isn't on the homepage?

Screw the normal starter pack! The Dark Edition is where it's at! Hopefully, if they do sale well, maybe they'll have the dark figures either as singles or multiple packs; double pack for Dark WB and Dark BZ, and the triple one for DMRS, DNSE, and DS.
Looks like this is on the front page now.
Okay, so I've gone from "not getting Swap Force" to "possibly getting Swap Force for Christmas" to "if I can get the money together I'm getting this version".
Only qualm is that NOW they decide to not put the same figures in the 3DS version, how can I get a hold of the non-Dark versions of the two Swaplanders?

My city is going to sell the reguler version for $100 ad this for $150
...this is way too overpriced

Swappers are actually $15 - so the total cost is $120, meaning you're saving $20. People ignore the cost when you add everything together, because they think "the normal game is $75, and the two figures are only an extra $20 so it should be $95!" but they forget that with the base game you're saving $25 from the cost of the game and figures on their own.
Quote: Kevin16This is way too overpriced.
Not really if you count how much each figure is worth (around $10 for each core figure and I believe around $13 for each swapable figure) and how much the game itself is worth (usually around $60 nowadays).
- Three core figures = around $30.
- Two swapable figures = around $26.
- Game = $60.
- Total = $116
So you're basically getting $16 off. That's not much, but you're basically getting two core figures for free or one swapable figure for free. *shrugs*

Except - Normal game = 75, this has $20 more worth of characters, and it's $25 more.

But you're still getting your money's worth for $100. Okay, it's $25 more - so an extra $5 for the exclusive poster. Actual Skylanders posters retail at around $5, so there you go, sorted.

I look at it this way: 5 rare/alternate characters for 20$ each and the game is free with new portal.

I'm hoping that will be the case, since I'm sure they'll be releasing the 3DS characters (possibly with exception to that new Eruptor?) as single packs. If not, then I will wait for the set to go cheap and pick it up and sell the game alone.

The Dark Edition should keep me going until I have a Wii U, at which point I'll pick up a Wii U Swap Force starter. That means I would end up with three versions of Swap Force: Dark Edition for Wii; 3DS version; and regular edition for Wii U. At least I plan to not get every single Swap Force character!

but you DID make a plan so you can get to the zones right?

Oh, that won't be a problem. I intend to get all the Swap Force members, all 16 regular new characters and only half the reposes and LightCores. Basically, I only need one non-variant, non-LC version of each character other than my personal core eight.
Although, I am slightly tempted to get some Legendary figures this time around...

Plus any chrome ones cos i missed out in giants but managed to get chrome spyro so that totals at around.... damn

It's not MORE, it's actually the same
Over here it costs $120, so for an extra $20 you're basically getting two extra characters valued at $15 each. Of course, they'll most likely be worth more on the after-market due to their exclusivity and rarity.
I'm seriously considering buying the Legendary Swap Force double pack and triple pack to serve as a parallel to the characters in my Dark Edition...ooh, the anticipation is too much to bear alone! Who else is excited?

ME! But I'm not too sure about those Dark figs, mainly because I envy anyone who will get 'em!
Now that I think about it, they are creepy-looking...
those are beautiful
i only tend to like blast zone, slobber tooth, mega ram spyro and ninja stealth elf
so i am quite happy with this
so i am quite happy with this
so... where's the dark smolderdash?
tell me there's the dark version of the red robot
does dark spyro spit purple flames?
does dark washbuckler spit purple water?
what's the difference between normal stealth elf and dark?
can dark blast zone fire purple flames like dark spyro?

i dont think you can get the dark version later its limited meaning only this one time special number of sets and in nevada there sold out but i got one so good luck trying at a later date!
Quote: wreckingballbobYeah, I won't get it because I don't wanna have two copies of the game.
I also prefer originals rather than Darks!
I wouldn't really mind having more than one copy of the game to be honest. I'm not a huge Skylanders fan (I actually don't consider myself a fan at all at the moment), but I was really disappointed from what I saw in Giants. Swap Force, on the other hand, seems like it may be better and more worth my money. If I like the game, then I will probably buy the Dark Edition later on just for the figures and probably just give the extra copy of the game to my brother or something.
I also prefer the original characters over the Dark ones, but I still think they look cool.
