The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning

Released in October 2006, The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, is said to be the first of a new reset storyline and was developed by Krome Studios (PS2, XBOX, GCN, GBA) and Amaze Entertainment (DS).

Features

• Action/combat orientated
• New breath abilities, fury attacks, melee and aerial combo attacks
• Upgradeable breath abilities
• The new storyline explores Spyro's origins, all the way back to when he hatched and was raised by a family of dragonflies
• Fire, Earth, Electric and Ice breaths.
• The villain is a female black dragon called Cynder.
• Krome Studios are taking care of the Xbox, PS2, Gamecube and GBA versions whilst Amaze Entertainment are making the DS version again.
• Five bosses to fight during the game
• Spyro returns to the skies
• Elijah Wood as the voice of Spyro
• David Spade as the voice of Sparx
• Gary Oldman as the voice of Ignitus: a red dragon, the Fire Dragon Elder and Spyro's mentor.
• Named enemies. A lot of creatures that Spyro attacks will have their own individual name (randomly assigned except for significant enemies such as bosses or some small creatures). You can read a complete list of all of the bits of the names, and view a Random Enemy Name Generator.

But the review was incredibly harsh on previous Spyros, I don't think they were THAT bad.

Off topicness: Has anyone played Crash Twinsanity? Here's spyro in it, I'm not sure if you've seen it already.

I love that review. I'm buying this game. Thanks Mbags and Gnasty for that find! Now I'm waiting for all the internet to review this game, then I'll be satisfied.

I have played almost every spyro game there is. I own all the classics. every time I played a new game I wished to know about Spyros past. If anyone has the instructions booklet on the last page there is a dragon that looks like spyros father. I wonder if hell show up finally. one thing I am disapointed over is that spyro and ember didnt ever get into the anticapated scene where ember chases after spyro. But this games looks great!

Very nice, like I said before it's good to see a positive review for a new Spyro game at long last.

I hope that Sparks spelling is just a typo though.

Yo, Mbag4life, thankyou soooo much for pointing out the first review! . I bought that issue of Play Magazine, and sure enough the review gave TLOSANB an 8.5 out of 10. Thats just awesome! The reviewers rly praised the fact that the game is a breath of fresh air for the franchise, and that it doesn't look like its aimed at toddlers anymore (AHT=too many bright colors XP). Now I just gotta see if ign, PSM and gamespot like it as much. Also, the review mentions that spyro has to rescue his imprisoned ancestors, so I guess Ignitus isn't the only dragon elder in the game .

Huh.. I heard him say it..... Anyway, computer and video games has nice screenshots, but do NOT read the headline nor the story about it...... There's a cus word in the headline and the article is a bunch of bull !@#$%&!!! It says mean things about spyro's previous titles!!

Hey, is the new issue of play magazine available at any supermarkets? Dats where I usually end up gettin magazines. I seriously can't believe a NEW spyro game got an 8.5/10, THATS AMAZING !!!! Dats an Insomniac quality score right there! I gotta see this for myself! If its true, than SPYRO IS COMING BACK ON TOP BABY! X).......sry, got kinda over-excited.

Like I said fearthehorns, it's interesting if it's true (I'm sure it probably is but I don't buy any magazines myself) and it's nice to know that the game got a positive review.

I posted a link to that comic for a reason but not to say you were lying, if you want to tell us about things then fine that's great, just don't pretend to be something you're not. Maybe this one is a little more appropriate (as the other one seems to suggest you made up a false review which isn't quite what I meant). But whatever.

OMG! I just got my issue of PLAY magazine in the mail and they reviewed Spyro...they gave it an 8.5 out of 10!!!

I don't have a scanner so I can't post it for you, but its a great review. It's 2 pages and super positive about the game. I can't wait until next month to play it. Does anyone else get PLAY magazine?
