Activision have finally revealed their plans for Spyro, and those plans are in the form of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. USA Today have the details of this new direction for the franchise.

This is apparently the "innovative new universe" that "will bring the world of toys, video games and the Internet together in an unprecedented way" that Activision recently mentioned in their Financial Results. Which means the game is likely unrelated to any previous Spyro games and you'll be using various real world action figures from a set of more than 30 characters to interact with the game in some manner.
No platforms are mentioned specifically other than "multiple systems as well as computers, handhelds and phones" but earlier rumours suggested Wii and DS as candidates. They also give a release date of "this fall".

I thought there was a new Spyro game called Spyros Kingdom?
Spyro's Kingdom IS Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. Spyro's Kingdom was the test title.

Classic Spyro fans wanted an original spyro fan, and they got it. Now some of them already claiming about the things they don't like in the game, like Spyro's design.

It sucks that it comes out on Wii and DS.
I hope that is some transformation ability and not going to be spyro throughout the whole game

The character design looks like something that they came up in Spore, a bit mean and "monstery". If it turns out to be a MMPOG, I don't really think it would work out since all of the previous spyro games have all been platformers. I say they should have brung back the Spyro Movie.

This is terrible, Spyro looks like some ****ed up toad. And they went back to the originals. They better keep the tlos characters. This game looks terrible. Thought the next games was gonna be epic.

...ugh. I just hope you can actually "FLY" in this game. More so than DotD.

I called it. So far, all I've seen are people complaining about the design. I freakin called it.
Sometimes I wonder if anybody plays games for entertainment anymore. It seems to be all about complaining. Granted, I plan to make a career out of that, but that doesn't mean I hate everything. Yeah, the design is different, but I'm syked for the game.

If I am understanding this, then each character other than Spyro is sold separately. Not cool, at all.

Well, big sad face from me. I really hoped they'd continue the TLoS-games, but on the other hand, they might just have screwed them over with a new installment.
But as opposed to the rest of the world, it seems, I ADORE the new Spyro-model! He actually looks like a dragon this time (or my view of how a dragon should be)! And his eyes are so pretty.

Clearly Activision is run by vampires. And they must be shot. With Anti-matter torpedos.

No. You don't NEED to get all the ports. That's just like with how the PS3 version of Arkham Asylum has the Joker, but you want the 360 version badly. You don't need both.
