Activision have finally revealed their plans for Spyro, and those plans are in the form of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. USA Today have the details of this new direction for the franchise.

This is apparently the "innovative new universe" that "will bring the world of toys, video games and the Internet together in an unprecedented way" that Activision recently mentioned in their Financial Results. Which means the game is likely unrelated to any previous Spyro games and you'll be using various real world action figures from a set of more than 30 characters to interact with the game in some manner.
No platforms are mentioned specifically other than "multiple systems as well as computers, handhelds and phones" but earlier rumours suggested Wii and DS as candidates. They also give a release date of "this fall".

It would if you what the complete experience. They are chopping it up and you cannot even get the full game on your platform of choice.

Spyro has never looked uglier.
If they can't make him look like what he used to in the beginning, I'd rather want the series dead than being humiliated like this.

Spyro still looks pretty bad and the game seems to be deviating badly from the classic series, which is to expected during a reboot (Seriously stick iwth a single series people).

I dunno, I don't seem to care much for this design, looks slightly better than previous design (DotD), But I'm really looking at the gameplay and if it'll feel like the classic series, like AHT or YotD...

The whole toy thing seems childish. I know that seems to be what they are aiming for, but it's odd how they choose to make a game that's meant to be for all ages and now they're making THIS. On top of that, like most have said, the design looks ugly, and since (in my opinion) Activision is usually pretty good at designing Spyro, I don't think they really tried with that picture. Just my opinion. Hopefully they won't be keeping it.
Even so, I'm just grateful to finally get some news. And who knows? Maybe it won't be so bad. We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

Err ... Even if the game-play was great, and the storyline was awesome ... I'd have to play as that thing! Seriously, I could've made a better appearance of the purple dragon. This version looks like a demon/dinosaur ... thing!
What I also find VERY annoying is that they didn't use the original tradition of the Spyro logo! Now it sticks out like a sore thumb in the Games menu... Tsk, tsk tsk...

And as P-S said, they deleted the old Spyro Logo.
But I'm not jumping to conclusions until I've played the game, or at least a Demo.
