More information has been posted on the Velvet Octopus page for the upcoming film, due for release Christmas 2009.

The director of the film will be Mark Dippe (Garfield’s Fun Fest, The Reef, Garfield Gets Real) and it is being written by Daniel and Steven Altiere (Dr. Dolittle, Scooby Doo 3, Garfield’s Fun Fest).

There is a synopsis of the story which will be very familiar to you if you've played The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, it's essentially the same but with some minor changes. This is intended to be the first in a franchise of Spyro films.

It's scaring me too for a different purpose altogether. I can tolerate a single movie based on a videogame, but... a series of which? I can't see this working out too well. smilie()

Although, the "3D" in the title... does this imply that there'll be a version with 3D glasses required to get the dynamic feel of it? smilie

How do they? I looked at the bigger pictures in this site's film section and I thought the painting work is very well detailed and stuff. I just hope that the models used in the film itself remain at that kind of level.

I'm kind of having trouble viewing the pages with all of the pictures you guys are talking about. Every time I click on that page, there's always a little box near the bottom that said "Downloadables" that requires a password to get into. Can someone help me with this problem?

For some reason I can't bring myself to be excited about this movie. I mean what is the whole point? The film is basically going to be Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning with a few changes thrown in.

Way to go Universal... I was wondering when the screw up was going to come down from the idiots upstairs. I had a feeling that Krome was going to be replaced. They just couldn't leave the Legend games alone. They just couldn't resist messing with things again.

Sigh...

I don't think this is Sierra's fault, personally. The fact is that at the end of the day, this is going to be a movie based on a videogame, and movies of that kind of calibre generally suck anyway. I'd rather not get too hyped up either just for that reason.

Besides, Ignitus looks fine; dragons are technically lizards anyway, so the extra detail was needed to be added and all that. smilie

It could be the way he's standing; in the ANB one, the thing on his tail is right around his mid-section...

this somehow has a connection to what they look like in The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon.

I was laughing every time a character said a corny line in Eragon smilie, I hope this movie isn't going to be the same.
