Story

Once again Spyro has been reset, so this will not be continuing the storyline found within the The Legend of Spyro trilogy. Here is the premise of the game as told by a press release:

Skylanders Spyro's Adventure lets kids take on the role of a powerful Portal Master, who can control over 30 different characters, including the beloved purple dragon Spyro. Each of these heroes is a protector of an amazing, mysterious world, but they have been ejected from their world by the sinister Portal Master known as Kaos and now they are frozen in our world as toys. Only the players of Skylanders Spyro's Adventure can get them back into their world, by embarking on a fantastical journey where they will explore mythical lands, battle menacing, outlandish creatures, collect treasures, and solve challenging puzzles as a part of the quest to save their world.

Characters

Instead of just playing as Spyro you will have a wide selection of 32 characters to choose from, each of these unique in their own way. The toys themselves store information inside that relates to your ingame character's progress and levelling to make it simple to use on another's system.

Here are all 32 of the characters, some have multiple forms but they only count as one of the 32.

In the United States the individual single pack toys were priced at $7.99 each, and there are also larger packs containing three characters. With the console and PC Starter Packs you get your first three "interaction figures" to start you off; Spyro, Trigger Happy, and Gill Grunt. In the 3DS Starter Pack you instead get Ignitor, Stealth Elf and Dark Spyro, an exclusive character.

As well as the 37 different recognised toys there are also rare variations of some characters. In-game these do not have a different appearance to their normally painted counterparts so other than the toy's coat of paint they are exactly the same. The current confirmed variations are Silver Boomer, Silver Eruptor, Silver Dino-Rang, Gold Drill Sergeant, Gold Flameslinger, and Gold Chop Chop. There are also two even rarer Skylanders that were only made available at retail events; Metalic Purple Cynder and Pearl Hex.

Not all of the characters were released at launch, they have been put out in gradual waves containing new characters and adventure packs every few months, with several still waiting for release.

Elements

The characters of Skylanders will each have one of eight elements, these are shown by the type of base their toy has.

Air Life Undead Earth Fire Water Magic Tech

Air, Life, Undead, Earth, Fire, Water, Magic, Tech

There are some enemies that are weak to certain elements but this is not a widespread feature, the main use in-game for the different elements is to unlock extra parts of each level. The levels are also broken down into sections where a specific element has its Elemental Power bonus active.

During PvP battles you will also find that when fighting a certain element your Skylander's Elemental Power is used. The order of this is as follows: Undead > Life > Water > Fire > Air > Earth > Tech > Magic > Undead

Portal of Power

Portal of Power

To bring your toys into the game you'll need the included Portal of Power, you simply place the toy in the centre of the Portal and instantly the character you've used will appear in-game. This circular device glows different colours and has the ability to recognise two characters placed on it at once to allow for multiplayer co-op or PvP battles.

The Xbox 360 and PC Portals are wired and just plug straight into the console/computer, no batteries required. The PS3 and Wii Portals are wireless and require three AA batteries, they come with a small adaptor that plugs into a USB port on the console. The 3DS portal is also wireless and is powered by three AAA batteries. Your first set of batteries are included of course.

The only portal that works with the Xbox 360 is the portal that comes with the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 portal will only work with the Xbox 360 version of the game (and the web game).

Due to its unique method of infra-red communication with the 3DS, the 3DS portal is the only one that will work with the 3DS game. However the 3DS portal can work with the PS3, Wii and PC versions of the game, simply connect it to your system using the included USB cable. This cable also allows you to use your 3DS portal with the web game. Despite its smaller size, when connected to a console it functions exactly like the larger portals in regards to the number of Skylanders and Magic Items it can read at the same time.

Trading Cards

As well as the physical plastic toy you receive a trading card with a picture of the Skylander and some stats. The stats on these cards do not appear to have any relation to their in-game stats. There are no official rules for games using the cards.

Adventure Packs

As well as all of the different characters you can supplement the game with the four Adventure Packs. These contain a Skylander that is unique to the pack, two small Magic Item toys that will help during your game, and a larger Adventure Item that unlocks a brand new level in the game for you to complete.

Platforms

The game appeared on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, PC, and 3DS as well as on the web with Skylanders: Spyro's Universe. There is also a mobile version that has yet to be released.

V Yeah the controls are better. However my Wii is old, and if it dies I wont be able to play Skylanders any more. It's so sad!

Guys this is the Skylanders Spyro's adventure section... Not the swap force section. Plus u should make a forum about this instead of debating on a public page...

Not trying to be mean! It's just frustrating that this wonderful game page is being used for abusing another game with words ^-^'

They did screw up TH Camo's figure though, just look at his back! Also, the talking animations suck in all of them.

V dude the voice acting is pretty bad, the graphics are good but for HD VV could have done a hell of a lot better, the upgraded pictures just show how lazy VV got, the talk animations suck the lips and voices don't go together a person will be talking and they're lips will just be moving randomly sometimes when they're still taking the lips stop moving for a couple of seconds just look at the talk animation and you'll see, that's one wow pow that's good one so yeah wow pows are a flaw, no they aren't look at the Giants amd look at the Swappers the Swappers lack detail compared to them and any other Skylander from SG and SSA, the levels drag on and get repetitive um I not sure if that's how you wright that word sorry if it's not, so still whats the point on decreasing some flaw right there, yes they are I've played SSF on many consoles each controller feeling a bit stiff not to much but enough to notice maybe it's just for some Skylanders I don't know could be that probably, no it's not most of the money is like 1 COIN! SSA is the best when it comes to gaining money, jumping half the time doesn't even let you Dodge the attack and jump attacks are awesome, I'm just saying it's weird that theirs no double jumping when the same developer made the game, SSA has an almost endless amount of replay value this gives you a couple of hours worth

1. I wouldn't say all the voice acting is terrible.
2. Not all the old Skylanders are slow for example Wrecking Ball, Hot Dog etc.
3. The graphics are pretty good for HD better than the first two games.
4. Upgrade pictures don't really matter.
5. The talk animations are better than the first two games.
6. Nope, Thorn Horn Camo's Wow-Pow is amazing!
7. The toys are just as detailed as before.
8. I do find enjoyment out of the levels.
9. Honestly, most of the damage levels has been increased.
10. The controls are not a bit stiff at all.
11. This is the easiest Skylanders game to get money.
12. You don't need to attack when jumping. You do that you get away from enemies.
13. Screw double jumping.
14. They gave him a buff so that doesn't matter. I can still play him.
15. I like the music.
16. Yes but the levels and content after the story made the game way longer than the first two.

Okay, the rest of your points I agree with but that doesn't make it flawed. The gameplay is the best is Swap Force and that's what I like.

V the levels are to long, levelling up takes to long, the voice acting isn't very good, the Skylanders from SSA and SG feel slow when attacking, the graphics aren't very good for HD, the adventure packs from SSA don't work, the art for the upgrads are just the same picture with lines just showing how lazy VV got with the game, many Skylanders are disappointing. now like I said I haven't played the game in a long time so I don't remember many of the flaws and I don't intend to go back to that hell

Oh I got some more it takes to long to skip cutscenes and it gets really annoying, the talk animations suck, every time you go to the hub you have to hear the idiot talk over and over again and you can't skip it

And the S2/S3 wow pows suck, the toys have a lack in detail, the levels aren't very fun, Kaos's boss battle sucks, some of the Skylanders from SSA and SG attack damage have been lowered like what's the point in that WHATS THE POINT IN LOWERING THE ATTACK DAMAGE WTF!

Also SSF has no horoic challenges and no swimming the pain is all coming back ;~;

The controls are a bit stiff, it takes for ever to make money, you can't attack when jumping, you can't double jump and that is dumb because VV made the 3DS version of SSA and it had double jumping, smilie didn't get a S3, the music isn't very good and VV just rehasded most songs from SSA and SG

And theirs only 14 levels, 12 if you don't buy the adventure packs

V I'm sorry but if you can't even say one then of course I'm not going to buy anything you say.

#14732 SkylandersGamer 13:07:59 22/09/2014
V yes their were I just can't remember a lot of them because theirs so many

I'm sure if I played the game again I'd remember but that game sucks can't even play 5 MINUTES OF IT!

V If you can't remember them that mean's the were never there.
