Story
The story and background for the new types of toys is as detailed below:
In Skylanders Trap Team, Kaos continues his ongoing quest to rule over Skylands. He has discovered the location of the legendary Cloudcracker Prison -- a fortress built entirely out of the magical substance Traptanium and home to Skylands' most nefarious baddies. In an attempt to build his own army of foes, Kaos blows up the prison, releasing the most wanted villains and blasting shards of Traptanium to Earth in the form of Traps. Now it's up to Portal Masters to recapture all of the escaped villains using powerful Traptanium Traps and defeat Kaos before it's too late!
Characters
All pre-existing figures work with Trap Team but of course there is a whole slew of new toys to collect. First to note are the 18 new Trap Masters, Trap Masters are a larger Skylander toy that wields a translucent "Traptanium" weapon and has an advantage when fighting the capturable villains. There are also 18 new core Skylanders who will join the fight, new mini versions of old characters as well as several reposed fan-favourites from previous adventures.
Here are pictures of all of the so far revealed brand new Skylanders:

To help differentiate between the old and new sets, the base of the Skylanders for Skylanders Trap Team is coloured red instead of the green/orange/blue currently seen on the Spyro's Adventure, Giants and SWAP Force toys.
Traps
Another new toy added with Trap Team is the Trap. These translucent crystals are made of Traptanium and are essential for capturing the various villains. Each Trap is a specific element and allows you to capture villains that match that element.

That means Wave 5 is this;
Blazing Belch, Shrub Shrieker, Beam Scream
Doom Stone originally has a Jade spear and a snake-like bottom half.
Rubble rouser was an ant with a drill tail and a shovel but then he was changed into a mole with drill feet and a shovel. Then he became Rubble Rouser, a rock golem with a drill hammer and drill feet.
Slobber Tooth was going to be Magic Element and be a weird beast with toe heads. One of its front legs was a chicken leg. One head had one eye and the other had two. The one with one eye had horns on its head and the one with two had toe long fangs sticking out. It had two different tiny wings as well. Then it became an Earth Skylander they was exactly like Slobber Tooth but had two heads. One had two horns, one Had two fangs. Then they decided to give him one head and they gave it both a horn and the fangs.
Punk shock was originally purple and had an electric bow and arrow. Many different hair styles were tried on her. Then they changed her into a blue character instead and gave her a crossbow.
Rattle Shake was originally an actual humanlike think. He had a skull for a head and two detached leg bones with boots. His had had a skeleton hand sticking out of it and he was holding two pistols. Then they decided to give him a snake bottom, but he was the same besides that. Then the next concept had him having a gun covered in skulls instead of two pistols. Then they gave him a snake head, got rid of the hand on his hat, and gave him a snake gun, giving us Rattle Shake.
Oh wait, sorry, actually, Rattle Shake's original concept had spectral pistols and no hand on his hat. The he became the one I mentioned to be first.
Food Fight went through so many concept changes that I can't possible fit it into one post.
On topic: I think will be in wave 4 because two water cores can't be in the same wave I don't think.
I just relished it is 25 past ten pm
