Story

The story and background for the new types of toys is as detailed below:

In Skylanders Trap Team, Kaos continues his ongoing quest to rule over Skylands. He has discovered the location of the legendary Cloudcracker Prison -- a fortress built entirely out of the magical substance Traptanium and home to Skylands' most nefarious baddies. In an attempt to build his own army of foes, Kaos blows up the prison, releasing the most wanted villains and blasting shards of Traptanium to Earth in the form of Traps. Now it's up to Portal Masters to recapture all of the escaped villains using powerful Traptanium Traps and defeat Kaos before it's too late!

Characters

All pre-existing figures work with Trap Team but of course there is a whole slew of new toys to collect. First to note are the 18 new Trap Masters, Trap Masters are a larger Skylander toy that wields a translucent "Traptanium" weapon and has an advantage when fighting the capturable villains. There are also 18 new core Skylanders who will join the fight, new mini versions of old characters as well as several reposed fan-favourites from previous adventures.

To help differentiate between the old and new sets, the base of the Skylanders for Skylanders Trap Team is coloured red instead of the green/orange/blue currently seen on the Spyro's Adventure, Giants and SWAP Force toys.

Traps

Another new toy added with Trap Team is the Trap. These translucent crystals are made of Traptanium and are essential for capturing the various villains. Each Trap is a specific element and allows you to capture villains that match that element.

You guys do know that smilie was the original Magic doom raider, but, sense he was smilie, and the major villain in all of Skylands, so they made a trap specifically for him.

guy maybe hawkmongous learned tae kown do and he sort of looks like a crow so maybe he called "himself the only tae kown crow around" but shorted it to tae kown crow

You guys missed a lot more.
Shield Shredder
Krankenstein
Fisticuffs
Eye Five
Eye Scream
These guys were all created during the story. They could not possibly be in Cloudcracker.

I think I know why Hawkmongous' name was changed.
1. He pretty much made that name up for himself, calling himself "The great hawkmongous," kind of like a pirate does; "blackbeard," for example, is a nickname.
2. In the battle against him, he says: "We must win this fight or my name isn't the Great Hawkmongous!" So maybe they used both those reasons and took the expression literally to change his name.

V no, Hood Sickles are all throughout Skylands, so they aren't just dreams.

V
V what does he say in the trap quote?

#14889 mega spyro 04:59:07 03/01/2015
Mab lobs and Chompy couldn't be in cloud Cracker either, they live in the mirror of mystery, and, judging by what Mab Lobs says, have never known about Skylands as we know it. Also, from what I understand, either Telescope towers is half dream world and half real world, and Hood sickle for sure is just a dream, although given physical form. So, it would seem hood sickle lived in the dream world, and also could not be in cloud cracker.

So, the number of villains that could be in cloudcracker, is: 39, assuming Hood sickle was in the dream world.

@84: actually I agree with you on that whole theory it would make sense. And actually one his trap quotes mentions that he was betrayed by the doom raiders and I thought it was weird that he is practically the only mini villain that you interact with.

V perhaps he was near Cloudcracker when it exploded and was infused with the utter darkness that escaped from the ground.
avatar
#14886 mega spyro 04:29:07 03/01/2015
Reading that post, I just remembered that Blaster tron COULD NOT have been locked up in Cloud cracker. He didn't even exist, and he sure didn't time travel to the time Cloudcracker existed, then escape, then time travel back to 10,000 years in the future again.

And, 84skylanderdude, if he was Magic, why would Dark infused Traptanium work on him?
avatar
#14885 84skylanderdude 04:21:29 03/01/2015
V he somehow exposed their whereabouts and then had a conflict with the Golden Queen. She left him out to die before the Skylanders arrived. He survived, but with no memory and a messed up mind.
avatar
#14884 GinjaNinja 04:14:41 03/01/2015
V If he was the reason they got caught originally then why was he not there when the Skylanders invaded their base? You mean to say there was a gap big enough for a fight between him doing whatever he did to expose everyone's where abouts, escape the skylanders, go back to the Doom Raiders and the have a battle with the Golden Queen, escape that too, and then run away all in time for the skylanders to show up and the deal with all the other Doom Raiders? Sorry, can't say I get behind that. I just go with the fact there simply isn't a magic Doom Raider.

Maybe it was the leader of the Chompies or something.

Threatpack was a bad guy, he just didn't have a jetpack yet.

Guys. I have a conspiracy theory.

For every non-Doom Raider Trappable villain, there has been a regular enemy version... Or has there? There is one that is the ONLY Trappable villain that has no enemy form. And which is that? Tae Kwon Crow. What if he was originally the Magic Doom Raider? It makes sense. He seems like a Magic character. What if he screwed something up while he was a Doom Raider and the Golden Queen kicked him out? What if he even was the one who made them get caught, and she tried to kill him as punishment? She could've failed and he escaped with a lost memory and a messed up mind, explaining why he couldn't figure out you were a Skylander. This also explains why he has no enemy version. He is the only non-Doom Raider villain that you interact with; you play Skystones with him. Plus, he was saying he was Hawkmongous instead of Tae Kwon Crow. Again, he lost his memory, so maybe he made up his own name. But his real name may have already in the records, so he became Tae Kwon Crow. Magic is also the only element without a Doom Raider. With Tae Kwon Crow as the Magic Doom Raider, it makes Magic even with Fire, Undead, Air, and Earth. You may think that this messes with the equality of Light and Dark-- It doesn't. Blaster-Tron doesn't exist in this time, so he can be kicked out of the equation. That makes three for both elements. The two elements have less of everything than the other elements except villains. Why is that? It's because Tae Kwon Crow is actually Magic and Blaster-Tron wasn't even supposed to exist yet. It all fits together.

Why would they lock up only one chompy? There's hundreds of them!
And Threatpack wasn't even a bad guy until the last minute, so why did they lock him up?
