I think by this point, the developers were too rushed to care. You should be blaming it on Activision for changing the original developer, and bringing a new developer, probably with no previous experience to develop the game. Goes to show how much Activision cared for Spyro back then; they probably did it on purpose to turn it into a cash cow later on. (By later on, I mean, now.) I think the developers for this game, made another in 2010, which was How to Train Your Dragon, which was some crappy fighting style game, and then they went defunct.
Just checked on wikipedia about the developer of this game, and they didn't really do much, they even started the same year as Insomniac Games, and they only made about nine games in the years they were active up to 2012. So they weren't all that great.

I'm ashamed that this game didn't turn out very well. The developers should've realized the game's full potential.
This game was tough to go through to the end
but I managed to!!!
but I managed to!!!
Despite all the plot-holes, I still love this game...XP
I love this Game and all of the LoS series I still have New Beginnings but I wish I have a playstation to play it though ;__; I also wish I had Enteral Night and Dawn of the Dragon as well so I can replay this series all over because I think this is much better than the classic (by that I mean that this can be enjoy by older people because I think the classics are kind of childish in my opinon) and MUCH BETTER THAN SKYLANDERS! (In my opinon Skylanders suck compared with the Classic and LoS its just a cash cow that was slap with Spyro's name on it so it can sell more)
Wayne Brady does Sparx! I always knew that his voice sounded familiar!
