Developed by previously unknown (and since) companies Equinoxe/Check Six, this game, it's safe to say, was rubbish. Easily the worst Spyro game ever created. Though I might as well have this section despite that.

There's very little to the story of this game. Basically they're still celebrating the Year of the Dragon festival, but now it's time to give the baby dragons their dragonflies. However Ripto shows up, mucks up a spell and loses all of the dragonflies all over the realm. Even Sparx. It's up to Spyro to save the day again.

i meant the dragon fly idea was good just forgot to mention
this game is horrible worst graphics on ps2 i've ever played, shocking plot and random breath attacks the idea of letting the dragon flys move and not just sit there like a sack of bricks waiting to be captured but over all not great.
iv'e like um finished this game 100% and id say you cant play it for hours cause it will drive you crazy so yeah dont play it all the time unless your already crazy but still a good game.

Y'know, if you dont do the swimming in air glitch, your game wont glitch- or mine didnt.
that makes sense now! i read online that there was supposed to be a better version of it with more levels less glitches and gnasty gnorc AND ripto and it was delayed and they didnt have enough time. i think the delay was the ps2 came out in mid progress of making the game! i feel smart!
http://check6gaming.com/news/ i was right. After what happened with spyro, which was not there first game so they were not amateurs, check 6 and equinox merged and they make sports games and hardware. They also had a part in developing left 4 dead.

this game sucks HORRIBLELY. But i always get nostalgic playing it.

Some of the challenges were HARD (Honey Comb Tank Challenge, etc.), but it has some good memories and okay gameplay and music, in my opinion. :3

i think that this game may of been in development for PS1 at first. I seen somewhere that there was a leaked beta that got taken down by universal from a site called beta archive and it was a PS1 rom and it was rumored to be developed under the name: Spyro Year of the dragon 2. And i can show later in a forum post but in the game files if used with a hacker tool, theres evidence this was gonna be on PS1 and it shows stuff to do with year of the dragon and a third after this, so maybe year of the dragon was to start a trilogy? Then this was the second, and maybe the third would of brought ripto in again? since he said he would be back but never happened. I believe this is true.
