Story

The story of Skylanders Imaginators takes place long ago when the Ancients used a mysterious power known as "Mind Magic" to create everything in Skylands. With it, they conjured into existence anything that they could imagine! However, they soon learned that in the wrong hands, it could be very dangerous, and so they sealed it away so that it could never be misused. After discovering this ancient secret, Kaos has unleashed the power of "Mind Magic" into Skylands once again - and he is using it to create an unstoppable army of Doomlanders, the likes of which have never been seen! Now it's up to Portal Masters to create Skylanders Imaginators from their own imagination and stop Kaos and his evil Doomlanders before it is too late. And to help train them, Eon is sending the greatest mystic warriors of all time - the Senseis!

Characters

For new playable characters there are 20 brand new Skylander Senseis as well as 11 former villains. Along with their element each Sensei will also have a Battle Class from a list of ten: Smasher, Knight, Ninja, Bazooker, Quickshot, Sorcerer, Brawler, Sentinel, Swashbuckler, and Bowslinger.

The first set of characters to be revealed included King Pen, Golden Queen, and Tri-Tip. Here is a table containing all of the new Skylanders, click the + to see all the known variants:

Senseis

"Sensei" is the collective name for the new set of Skylanders (the villains also function as Senseis), their Battle Class determines the types of attacks and weapons they use as well as which abilities they unlock for your Imaginators. They all have a new type of super attack called Sky-Chi that slowly fills up as you defeat enemies until it reaches a point where you can unleash it on your unsuspecting foes (quite similar to the ability Trap Masters had in the 3DS version of Trap Team).

Owning a Sensei of a particular battle class will unlock a Secret Technique for your Imaginators of the same class. As well as that they will each unlock an item and a weapon for use in customisation. Senseis will also be able to access areas known as "Sensei Elemental Realms".

Creation Crystal

Included in the Starter Pack is a Fire Creation Crystal, this allows you to create and store your very own custom Fire element Skylander. To create a Skylander of a different element you'll need to purchase a Creation Crystal of that element.

Be aware that once you select a Battle Class you can not change it on that Creation Crystal ever again. So choose carefully!

Starter Pack

In the Starter Pack you get the Water Sensei Master King Pen, the Earth Villain Golden Queen, and a Fire Creation Crystal. The portal included is identical to that of the Swap Force portal (some regions instead have a modified SuperChargers Portal without a trap slot).

There is also once again a Dark Edition of the Starter Pack, it contains three Dark variant Skylanders (King Pen, Golden Queen, and Wolfgang) and three standard Creation Crystals (Fire, Life, and Dark). The pack also comes with a Gold Imaginite Mystery Chest that unlocks some gear for your Imaginators.

And there is a "Crash Edition" that is only available on PlayStation 3 and 4, it has the same contents as the regular Starter Pack plus the Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex toys. The characters will be available in a separately sold Adventure Pack at a later date.

Platforms

The game is only appearing on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Wii U. That means no Wii, 3DS, or Tablet versions this year.

Crash is apparently apart of the 31 characters, and not the 32nd. Nothing is confirmed but I hope that's the case. Then there won't be an odd number.

The Air Brawler must be the Villain, but then again, there is still the extra spot. The Air Knight takes up one spot.

Still wondering about this Tech Sentinel and the Dark Bowslinger. They chose some interesting classes for these elements, but this is only if the art theory is right. I hope it is.

Personally, I think the Sheep Mage should make a return in Imaginators but as an NPC villain and a boss, just like Captain Dreadbeard did for Giants, Trap Team, and Battlecast and Cluck did for SuperChargers.

V I agree. Wouldn't it just be easier for them to use all Trap Team villains? I mean, they have so many different characters to work with who have a whole moveset planned out for them that way!

I think that, even though they're saying that not all the villains are from Trap Team, that the figures will be. The Doom Raiders make more sense then anybody because we know most about them as characters except for maybe smilie and smilie, but I still think they're going to be our figures. I think the other villains are going to be in the game and maybe Mesmeralda will will be the other villain figure (the 11th). I think it makes the most sense. I just think other villains will appear elsewhere in this game and not as figures.

V We've only seen one knight, and that's Ambush. He has a sword as a weapon, which leads me to think that the Air Sensei is also a Knight.

Also, unless Crash IS of the thirty-one Villains (which hopefully he isn't), the Brawler class and another class might have four.

V How many knights have we seen so far?

By my working out the majority of the classes with have 3 Skylanders each and then one class will have 4 due to there being an 11th villain.

I noticed in the official trailer the air sensei had a sword so I think he's a kinight.

V I think he meant the villains will make cameos in the new game in the story, but not as toys or playable characters.

I just checked Yroc's channel and he made a video about all the information he got from E3. It's been CONFIRMED that the villain senseis will not all be doom raiders or villains from trap team. There will also be villains from the other games.

(And here come the arguers: it's not confirmed, that's not enough evidence, blablabla!)

V I'd agree plus if they give us the ability to change the colours of everything we can make our own dark and legendary.

Plus the legendary status is only for the most heroic skylanders and imaginators are brand new inducted skylanders
