Story
The story of Skylanders Imaginators takes place long ago when the Ancients used a mysterious power known as "Mind Magic" to create everything in Skylands. With it, they conjured into existence anything that they could imagine! However, they soon learned that in the wrong hands, it could be very dangerous, and so they sealed it away so that it could never be misused. After discovering this ancient secret, Kaos has unleashed the power of "Mind Magic" into Skylands once again - and he is using it to create an unstoppable army of Doomlanders, the likes of which have never been seen! Now it's up to Portal Masters to create Skylanders Imaginators from their own imagination and stop Kaos and his evil Doomlanders before it is too late. And to help train them, Eon is sending the greatest mystic warriors of all time - the Senseis!
Characters
For new playable characters there are 20 brand new Skylander Senseis as well as 11 former villains. Along with their element each Sensei will also have a Battle Class from a list of ten: Smasher, Knight, Ninja, Bazooker, Quickshot, Sorcerer, Brawler, Sentinel, Swashbuckler, and Bowslinger.
The first set of characters to be revealed included King Pen, Golden Queen, and Tri-Tip. Here is a table containing all of the new Skylanders, click the + to see all the known variants:

Senseis
"Sensei" is the collective name for the new set of Skylanders (the villains also function as Senseis), their Battle Class determines the types of attacks and weapons they use as well as which abilities they unlock for your Imaginators. They all have a new type of super attack called Sky-Chi that slowly fills up as you defeat enemies until it reaches a point where you can unleash it on your unsuspecting foes (quite similar to the ability Trap Masters had in the 3DS version of Trap Team).
Owning a Sensei of a particular battle class will unlock a Secret Technique for your Imaginators of the same class. As well as that they will each unlock an item and a weapon for use in customisation. Senseis will also be able to access areas known as "Sensei Elemental Realms".
Creation Crystal
Included in the Starter Pack is a Fire Creation Crystal, this allows you to create and store your very own custom Fire element Skylander. To create a Skylander of a different element you'll need to purchase a Creation Crystal of that element.
Be aware that once you select a Battle Class you can not change it on that Creation Crystal ever again. So choose carefully!
Starter Pack
In the Starter Pack you get the Water Sensei Master King Pen, the Earth Villain Golden Queen, and a Fire Creation Crystal. The portal included is identical to that of the Swap Force portal (some regions instead have a modified SuperChargers Portal without a trap slot).
There is also once again a Dark Edition of the Starter Pack, it contains three Dark variant Skylanders (King Pen, Golden Queen, and Wolfgang) and three standard Creation Crystals (Fire, Life, and Dark). The pack also comes with a Gold Imaginite Mystery Chest that unlocks some gear for your Imaginators.
And there is a "Crash Edition" that is only available on PlayStation 3 and 4, it has the same contents as the regular Starter Pack plus the Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex toys. The characters will be available in a separately sold Adventure Pack at a later date.
Platforms
The game is only appearing on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Wii U. That means no Wii, 3DS, or Tablet versions this year.
Comments
Well, technically not, but I think Sentinel will fit Chompy Mage more.
Wouldn't it just be easier for them to use their own characters, though? Also, I think the Doom Raiders are the most popular villains among fans, so why would they pick a more obscure one that doesn't make as much sense as a Doom Raider? I mean, in Golden Queen's backstory, they said it was Golden Queen and the Doom Raiders that were given the choice, not just any villains. They've already used two (probably four, if we're including Pain-yatta and Krankcase) villains from Trap Team, so what would be in the point in breaking that streak when it would work fine? I think that if they want to use other villains than just Trap Team ones, they should do 20 villain figures - 10 Doom Raiders and 10 iconic villains from other games. That way, they could use villains like Moneybone and Mesmeralda without having their obvious element or class taken from them. It would work a lot better this way. I see it that they should either do this or just go all Doom Raiders. And with it confirmed that there are 11 villains, I think that doing the latter would be the obvious choice.
Golly, this was long.
V I think he's not a straight-up villain anymore, but I think he's still mischievous and could be a villainly figure in the future.
- Sorcerer (Already confirmed.)
- Bowslinger (Already confirmed.)
- Knight (Uses his trident like a sword.)
- Quickshot (Dual goo guns. Pretty much confirmed.)
- Bazooker (Tomato/Pepper-launching bazooka.)
- Sentinel (Basically has a modified staff designed to fit his class more.)
- Brawler (Has giant fists made from clouds, her own hair, stone or wood.)
Painyatta - Smasher (Attacks with a giant lollipop ax. Heavily hinted, and all but confirmed.)
- Swashbuckler (Dual sun-blades = PURE AWESOMENESS.)
- Ninja (Throws ninja stars, turns invisible, and throws smoke bombs.)
*Start of rant*
I know that Yroc said not all the villains were Doom Raiders, but I really don't understand why they would do that. They have 10 perfect villains to use, all with their movesets basically cut out for them. I don't see why they wouldn't use these characters that would be so easy to make full on Skylanders. Also, what villains are their really for them to use? Moneybone, Cluck, Mesmeralda, Stratosfear, Spellslamzer and Shellshock are all owned by VV. Why would TFB uses characters that aren't theirs when they already have the Doom Raiders, who are perfect for the roles of the Villain Senseis. Also, the clear elements of characters like Mesmeralda, Frightbeard and Spellslamzer (Magic), Moneybone (Undead) and Cluck and Shellshock (Tech) are already taken. Sure, I'd be all for figures of characters like 'ol Slammy, Stratosfear, Mesmeralda and Moneybone, but it just wouldn't make sense to me. This is coming from someone who really wants to see Stratosfear in this as the Air villain.
*Rant over.*
It was simply my opinion and as stated I personally think Imaginators will redeem their mistakes from previous just like many other games have.
