Story
The story of Skylanders Imaginators takes place long ago when the Ancients used a mysterious power known as "Mind Magic" to create everything in Skylands. With it, they conjured into existence anything that they could imagine! However, they soon learned that in the wrong hands, it could be very dangerous, and so they sealed it away so that it could never be misused. After discovering this ancient secret, Kaos has unleashed the power of "Mind Magic" into Skylands once again - and he is using it to create an unstoppable army of Doomlanders, the likes of which have never been seen! Now it's up to Portal Masters to create Skylanders Imaginators from their own imagination and stop Kaos and his evil Doomlanders before it is too late. And to help train them, Eon is sending the greatest mystic warriors of all time - the Senseis!
Characters
For new playable characters there are 20 brand new Skylander Senseis as well as 11 former villains. Along with their element each Sensei will also have a Battle Class from a list of ten: Smasher, Knight, Ninja, Bazooker, Quickshot, Sorcerer, Brawler, Sentinel, Swashbuckler, and Bowslinger.
The first set of characters to be revealed included King Pen, Golden Queen, and Tri-Tip. Here is a table containing all of the new Skylanders, click the + to see all the known variants:

Senseis
"Sensei" is the collective name for the new set of Skylanders (the villains also function as Senseis), their Battle Class determines the types of attacks and weapons they use as well as which abilities they unlock for your Imaginators. They all have a new type of super attack called Sky-Chi that slowly fills up as you defeat enemies until it reaches a point where you can unleash it on your unsuspecting foes (quite similar to the ability Trap Masters had in the 3DS version of Trap Team).
Owning a Sensei of a particular battle class will unlock a Secret Technique for your Imaginators of the same class. As well as that they will each unlock an item and a weapon for use in customisation. Senseis will also be able to access areas known as "Sensei Elemental Realms".
Creation Crystal
Included in the Starter Pack is a Fire Creation Crystal, this allows you to create and store your very own custom Fire element Skylander. To create a Skylander of a different element you'll need to purchase a Creation Crystal of that element.
Be aware that once you select a Battle Class you can not change it on that Creation Crystal ever again. So choose carefully!
Starter Pack
In the Starter Pack you get the Water Sensei Master King Pen, the Earth Villain Golden Queen, and a Fire Creation Crystal. The portal included is identical to that of the Swap Force portal (some regions instead have a modified SuperChargers Portal without a trap slot).
There is also once again a Dark Edition of the Starter Pack, it contains three Dark variant Skylanders (King Pen, Golden Queen, and Wolfgang) and three standard Creation Crystals (Fire, Life, and Dark). The pack also comes with a Gold Imaginite Mystery Chest that unlocks some gear for your Imaginators.
And there is a "Crash Edition" that is only available on PlayStation 3 and 4, it has the same contents as the regular Starter Pack plus the Crash Bandicoot and Dr. Neo Cortex toys. The characters will be available in a separately sold Adventure Pack at a later date.
Platforms
The game is only appearing on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the Wii U. That means no Wii, 3DS, or Tablet versions this year.
Comments
Or the 11th villain could be just additional to another element like Crash is to the life element.
Earth: Golden Queen (Sorcerer) [Confirmed]
Undead: Wolfgang (Bowslinger) [Confirmed]
Tech: Dr. Krankcase (Quickshot) [Basically Confirmed]
Magic: Pain-Yatta (Smasher) [Basically Confirmed]
Fire: Chef Pepperjack (Bazooker)
Water: Baron von Shellshock (Swashbuckler)
Life: Chompy Mage (Sentinel)
Air: Cluck (Brawler)
Light: Spellslamzer (Ninja)
Dark: Mesmeralda (Knight)
I hope the characters are fun in this new game! More missions, upgrades, more play through value and are more connected to the player. I also would like to see some easter eggs!
I would have thought there'd be some gameplay for them since we already know they're coming.
V Most of the games have.
V What do you mean? What new Senseis? The unrevealed ones from the trailer? If so, why should they already be revealed? There's always been mystery unknown characters for a while, and the Senseis are no exception.
hehehehe >.<
Earth sorcerer, undead bowslinger, magic smasher and tech quickshot are "confirmed"
Water: Gulper or Chill Bill, I don't think Frightberad is fitting as a Skylander, too much NPC-like, not a hero at all. Gulper might be santinel as the example sentinel is holding a tridet too, but he is too slow for that. With big hands he could be brawler, but water already has a brawler, so more likely bazooker with goo bazooka or knight with huge trident-sword. Chill Bill replaced him in battlecast, so he might replace him here too, as a bazooker (I wish).
Fire: Most likely Chef Pepper Jack. I wish Smokescram, but no change. Chef
Pepper is a big guy, so he must be a knight, brawler or bazooker. Knight with giant spatula, brawler with his big fists or the food cannon.
Life: Chompy Mage, as he was on the cover of trap team. He is small and nimble, so sentinel with a stick, but also could be bazooker with chompy bazooka or brawler with dual puppets.
Light: Luminous or Spellslamzer. Luminous could be almost any class but most likely sentinel or swashbucler. Spellslamzer I'm not sure about, the game has been in development before Superchargers came out so maybe or maybe no. He could be any class too, as he is fast and nimble, even ninja with invisibility spells and magic throwing stars.
Dark: Nightshade or Mesmeralda. Nightshade would be ninja no doubt. If Mesmeralda is coming, she wold be dark as she is evilized. If Luminous or Nightshade is in the game, they both are, not one of them, as they are very similar. Mesmeraldas battle class is hard, maybe ninja, or if she controls a puppet, she could be and class as the puppet may use any weapons.
Air: The hardest one. Most likely Dreamcatcher, but the melee battle classes don't fit her theme or personality. So bazooker with... airbombs? or ninja with air shurikens. Other air villains aren't popular enough or as well fitting to be heroes.
And Drill-X was the best enemy, boss or character in any Skylanders game.
Oh no this rant is just too long. Sorry.
